Original in Spanish: La BBDD de gente notable
Someone went and put the names of important people on the map according to where they were born. It amused me a lot to see that at a relatively distant zoom level “Longinos Navás” shows up, who was born in LO Poble.

We live in marvelous times. Not even Leonardo da Vinci could imagine the things crowdsourcing would let us share.
Of course the definition of “notable people” has its own angle too; I find things like this most interesting:
“From Dark Ages to the Modern age: the rise of notable women
Figure 3 reports the time evolution of the share of female individuals. It exhibits a U-shape pattern with a local minimum at around 5-10% of female individuals around 1750. At the end of the observation period, the share of female individuals ranges between 20% (Africa) and 30% (Asia and Oceania).” (from the Nature Scientific Data paper)
