Turns out you can get banned from the internet for living in the wrong town.
The Scunthorpe problem: automated filters and search engines blocking innocent content because a forbidden word hides inside it, a word within a word. Named after the 1996 incident where AOL banned the residents of Scunthorpe, England, over the substring “cunt”.
It keeps biting place names (Penistone), surnames and technical terms.
Computers are great at matching letters and terrible at knowing what a word is.
