Half human, half Vulcan, and always arguing with himself: logic against emotion.
First officer and science officer of the Enterprise in Star Trek, played by Leonard Nimoy. Nimoy invented the split-finger Vulcan salute while filming the episode “Amok Time”, based on a gesture from the Jewish priestly blessing he’d seen as a child in the synagogue. It goes with “Live long and prosper”.
He’s been played since by Zachary Quinto (the reboot films) and Ethan Peck (Discovery, Strange New Worlds). Partner in arguments: Leonard McCoy. Captain: James T. Kirk.
