Periplos del futuro. Antología de ciencia ficción colombiana, compiled by Rodrigo Bastidas (Planetalector, 2023). Colombian science fiction about people, technology and power: swappable bodies, editable identities, utopias gone sour, and what Colombia might look like a few decades out. Each story comes with a short bio of its author and a few lines on what science fiction means to them.
The three stories I kept a note of:
- “Discriminación genética”, by Enrique Patiño.
- “Sueño con lampreles”, probably by Manuel Ballesteros. Doubt: my reading note said Humberto Ballesteros, the bookshop listings say Manuel, and I no longer have the book to check. The bookshops are probably right.
- “Los huesos de Darwin”, by Miguel Ángel Manrique.
Fair warning: the story titles are confirmed by the table of contents, but the index doesn’t show who wrote what, so the first two attributions rest on my own note.
