Poet and playwright of the Generación del 27, author of Romancero gitano, Poeta en Nueva York, Bodas de sangre and the Llanto por Ignacio Sánchez Mejías (see La cogida y la muerte). Murdered by Francoist forces at the start of the Civil War in 1936, body never found.
His work entered the public domain in 2017.
