The Michael Jackson song with the gangster suit, the white fedora and the impossible 45-degree lean. From Bad (1987), released as a single in 1988; written by Jackson and co-produced with Quincy Jones. Its video is the centrepiece of the film Moonwalker (1988).
The chorus, “Annie, are you OK?”, is lifted from first-aid training: it’s what you say to Resusci Anne, the CPR dummy, before you start. And that dummy’s face belongs to L’Inconnue de la Seine, an unknown girl from 1880s Paris.
The lean, by the way, was cables and harnesses in the video and patented shoes on stage.
