The Charge of the Light Brigade, in heavy metal.

The Trooper is an Iron Maiden song written by bassist Steve Harris, from Piece of Mind (1983). A cavalryman tells the charge at Balaclava in the first person, riding into the Russian guns and dying on the field. It’s built on Tennyson’s poem (yes, the one behind Theirs but to do and die), and the harmonised twin guitars are the horses galloping.

Live, Bruce Dickinson sings it in a red British army coat waving a Union Jack, which has caused the odd row (Dublin, 2003). The original video used footage from the 1936 film with Errol Flynn, and the BBC refused to air it uncut because it was too violent.

It keeps coming back: the Stranger Things finale, Guitar Hero II, and a beer of the band’s called, of course, Trooper.
